Description
Amelia Island, Florida
The USS Constitution was built from the lumber of 2,000 live oak trees, which were cut and milled near St. Simons, Georgia. The Constitution saw action against the British during the war of 1812, receiving the nickname "Old Ironsides" due to the strength of its live oak construction. (tolleytours.com, nps.gov)
