Artist's Description
The Angel Oak, a majestic live oak tree on Johns Island, South Carolina, is a testament to the enduring beauty and resilience of nature. Towering over 66 feet tall and boasting a canopy that spans over 17,200 square feet, this ancient giant is one of the largest live oaks in the United States. Its gnarled branches, draped with Spanish moss, create a mystical and ethereal atmosphere.
Estimated to be between 400 and 500 years old, the Angel Oak has witnessed centuries of history, weathering storms, droughts, and the passage of time. It has stood as a silent sentinel, offering shade and solace with its gnarled branches, twisted and intertwined, offering a sense of both protection and wonder. The tree's ancient presence evokes a deep connection to the land, a reminder of the timeless cycle of life and growth. It is a living symbol of resilience, a testament to the enduring spirit of nature in the face of time.
